We don\u2019t know if we\u2019re on the \u201cno fly list\u201d, or not.\u00a0 We really don\u2019t care.\u00a0 We\u2019re certainly not going to fly now.<\/p>\n<p>The TSA has instituted a procedure whereby a traveler at some airports must claustrophobiate themselves in a tiny enclosed full-body scanner prior to boarding an airplane.\u00a0 A traveler may opt out of the scanning procedure, but that means a TSA agent must conduct a hands-on search.\u00a0 There is no way around not being searched prior to boarding a plane.\u00a0 There are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/travelers\/airtravel\/assistant\/editorial_1049.shtm\">other means<\/a> of being selected for a hands-on search, such as being randomly selected, or setting off an alarm while inside the claustrophobiator.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the statements made regarding this hands-on search are absurd.\u00a0 \u201cStop complaining and deal with it.\u00a0 I guarantee the people performing the pat downs hate them just as much as passengers receiving them.\u201d\u00a0 Or, \u201cstay out of the airport.\u00a0 How can we tell our children to follow the rules when all the grown-ups do is complain?\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> The person making this latter remark must not see the irony in teaching his or her children to be aware of strangers who want to touch the children in their private parts.\u00a0 First, teach them that their private parts are private.\u00a0 Then, bring them to the airport and tell them that the dirty old TSA man has to put his hand in their crotch.\u00a0 A kid with mixed messages from his parents is going to have some problems later in life.\u00a0 There is a word for people whose conduct mirrors that of the former comment.\u00a0 Prostitutes are paid for touching a client in what are otherwise known as inappropriate places.<\/p>\n<p>You have to wonder what advocates of these body searches are thinking, if indeed they are.\u00a0 If the government told them their car would be searched each time it was parked in a city parking garage they would undoubtedly be very upset.\u00a0 Or, would they?<\/p>\n<p>It is true that if you want to avoid any sort of an intrusive search at the airport you should not fly.\u00a0 It can be done.\u00a0 As I stated earlier, Stephanie and I don\u2019t fly.\u00a0 We\u2019ve driven to Washington, DC, and Seattle, WA, in the past decade.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been able to see a large part of America in the process.\u00a0 This is a beautiful country, and although flying may get you places quicker, is it worth the trouble?<\/p>\n<p>If enough travelers would stop flying until this government-directed sexual abuse could be curtailed, it would come to an abrupt halt.\u00a0 Don\u2019t count on Congress to put a stop to it.\u00a0 Top members of Congress, like the Speaker, Senate Majority Leader, etc., are not subject to the normal screening process.<\/p>\n<p>If travelers consider this latest \u201csafety technique\u201d to be a simple cost of safety, it will get worse.<\/p>\n<p>Do you think body cavity searches can be around the corner?\u00a0 Is the next technological \u201ctool\u201d to be developed by scientists some sort of device that will read minds?\u00a0 Will anyone care?<\/p>\n<p>If certain individuals are not bothered by the TSA\u2019s sexual groping, then we suggest that there be two flights of choice.\u00a0 Similar to the smoking\/no smoking sections of restaurants (or for those who can remember \u2013 smoking and non-smoking sections of airplanes) there should be a choice when you buy your ticket: The so-called \u201csafe flight\u201d, where you consent to body cavity searches, strange hands running up and down your body, and a psychological exam, all to prove that you are not a terrorist.\u00a0 Since everyone else on your flight will be elevated to the same degrading procedures, you will feel safe and secure as you reach your destination.\u00a0 Of course, you may have to pay for the service of the faux safety.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, your option is the \u201cunsafe flight\u201d.\u00a0 Under this scenario you just purchase a ticket and get on a plane.\u00a0 There are no x-ray machines, metal detectors, strangers feeling your underwear in your suitcase \u2013 or on your body for that matter.\u00a0 The rates will be much cheaper because you\u2019re taking a chance that a terrorist will blow the plane to smithereens once you\u2019re airborne.\u00a0 These two options are like first class and coach.\u00a0 They still separate classes, right?<\/p>\n<p>The Who said, \u201cSee me, feel me, touch me, heal me.\u201d Perhaps they were more visionary than George Orwell.\u00a0 Orwell predicted Big Brother spying on us;
